Charlotte: The Dog Poop Police Are Cracking Down. Don't Get Fined.

Charlotte dog owners, be on the lookout for the poop police! There's an apartment complex in Ballantyne that is cracking down on dog owners who don't clean up after their fur babies. According to Channel 9, Legacy Ballantyne sent renters a notice to their residents to bring their dog to the office so they can swab the dog's cheek to get its DNA. Why? Too many people aren't cleaning up after their dog so if the complex finds poop that hasn't been cleaned up, it can send it to a lab. The lab will match the mess to the dog and the complex will charge the owner a $250 poop fine.

Think it's crazy? The Greater Charlotte Apartment Association told Channel 9, "Most of the new constructions are choosing this method." So be a good neighbor and take the five extra seconds to pick up after your dog.
