Levine Children's Hospital Transports NICU Evacuees

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Over the last week, Atrium Health has been receiving patients from evacuee areas along the coastline as Hurricane Florence approached the Carolina coast.

Two of these patients included two NICU patients from New Hanover Regional Center (NHRMC) in Wilmington, North Carolina, according to Atrium Health.

Atrium Health transported two babies, both born prematurely, via a specially equipped aircraft provided by the Atrium Health's MedCenter Air team to Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte.

Officials say Baby Dariel was born at 23 weeks and Baby Sa'Briyah Brown was born at 25 weeks. Both babies were being cared for at NHRMC.

Baby Sa'Briyah was transported to NHRMC from Lumberton, North Carolina for extra medical care, according to Atrium Health.

Atrium Health said once the conditions are safe, the babies will be transported back to NHRMC.
