Charlotte Area High Schools Participate in National School Walkout

Dozens of area schools in Charlotte participated in walkouts today on the one month anniversary of the Stoneman Douglas shooting, which killed 17 people on February 14, 2018.

Starting at 10 a.m., schools began walking out of classrooms, marching their campuses, holding vigils and starting conversations in an effort to stop gun violence.

Independence High School, Ardrey Kell High School, Andrew Jackson High School and Hough High School are just a few of the schools participating in the marches.

Many schools marched while calling out the names of the 17 victims from Parkland, some held assemblies on their football field, and all came together in a national movement to end gun violence and remember students and teachers who lost their lives in the past during school shootings.
